1 Brief

From the poem, “Prayer for my Daughter” (William B.Yeats, 1919)

Considering that, all hatred driven hence, The soul recovers radical innocence And learns at last that it is self-delighting, Self-appeasing, self-affrighting, And that its own sweet will is Heaven’s will; She can, though every face should scowl And every windy quarter howl Or every bellows burst, be happy still.

  • How essential it is to overcome pain and keep moving towards the person you’re meant to be
  • My Dad introduced me to this poem. It makes me think of the good in people and the good in myself. It gives me hope that despite what’s ugly in me and others, what hurts and takes away innocence, there’s always an opportunity for renewal and forgiveness, deep self love and acceptance.

Audio Explores…
  • I stopped playing violin when I was 19. There’s definitely a sense of sadness and loss over the musician I was. I don’t practice anymore
  • Love and letting go

Footage Explores…
  • The private moment explores the pressures I feel as a woman to look good and be sexually desirable. I also like to think about how media encourages vanity, self-obsession, fuelling our desires for fame and worship. Wanting to be famous for fames sake. #Instafamous #Celebstatus #loveme #hot #omg!!!!!
  • The flower after the rain is a nostalgic moment I put forward. The flower is associated with my child hood and my great grandmother. The rain and winter always reminds me of my early life growing up in Manchester, UK.
