The Lytro camera

The first lecture for Networked Media, or symposium shall we call it, was overwhelming at the least. However there was one thing that was mentioned which particularly caught my attention – the Lytro camera.

The what camera? Don’t worry, I hadn’t heard of it before either. The new model is yet to be released, only in pre-order stages, however apparently this super-camera eliminates the depth of field effect. No longer will the photographer have to decide whether it is the foreground or background which is more aesthetically pleasing. A new clarity will be present in the entire image! This camera makes focusing an afterthought.

Here’s a few examples. Simply open a photo and click anywhere to focus it on that region. Amazing stuff!
