(1) Class Discussions
(2) Film Reflection
After I watched the example film, I thought a little differently. The issue can be not just a problem, it can also be a thing that happens and matters to you.
Furthermore, the crew used interesting techniques at shooting. What impressed me most was that they first shoot themselves in the mirror and then turn to the events that are happening, which represented straightforwardly what they are doing. In other words: Things are happening and we are recording.
Next, the questions raised by the characters to the crew, the attitude of the filmmakers and the conversation of the core members are also recorded. This is different from Observational mode by only recording. Reflexive mode is presenting that they are concerned and thinking about the issue to the audience.
(3) Documentary Sketch
Thanks to crow smartly rise an idea when we were losing our way, the way to cooperate with the reflexive mode documentary while we are apart. He was going to shooting his own and at the same time shows the camera in the back of the mirror. This made the film meet the sketch requirements immidiently.
However, as an editor, I find it is difficult to cut his more than five minutes video done to less than 2 minutes. Next time in the group, I should tell the requirements for the material as early as possible to limit their time if there’s a strike time limit for the product.
Finally, before I hand it up, I add more texture (voice over and editing frame) to the film, as we are in a different place. The purpose is to increase the recognition of this particular mode and the special cooperating method during the pandemic period.
