Lecture Notes: Week 6

–          Sender and receiver don’t have the same interpretation in mind. Viewers find new ways to analyse stories.

–          Language relies on other language to explain its meaning.

–          Boy only means boy because you can hear it as boy.

–          Korsakow is about the promiscuity between connections of its parts

–          You cannot control interpretation

–          There is too broad of a definition of narrative. It has been diluted through its uses

–          Story is media independent. narrating is

–          discourse = the way it is told

–          A kick ass story does not matter if it is told badly. It’s all about how the story is told.

–          Its only when something ends that you can understand what has happened.

–         A good korsakow film has no ending. The audience decides when they should leave or when they have had enough then maybe they can go back for another visit and have another experience. You don’t just play a sport once. the korsakow film you watch will not be the same as someone else. Compared to film.
