A belated introduction…

I blame the sashimi.

That weird fusion sushi with raw whatever it was, that my friend made me eat for dinner three Tuesday’s ago that has incurred this late presence.

I’ve spent the 2 weeks in hospital with some sort of nasty food poisoning (hence, the absence), however it feels so great to finally move enough in my hospital bed to type my first blog post for Media 1.

Perhaps the drugs the nurse just shot me with gave me a kick of energy to finally get a wiggle on with this blog.Or it was the fact that I realized I didn’t want to fall so behind that I would become the girl other students hated to have in their group.

Either way, here I am!

I’ve only done a little bit of blogging before, but it was all personal – not exactly on the academic scheme of things. So you’ll have to bear with me.

After living overseas for the majority of my life, blogs were the only way I was able to stay in contact with family and friends throughout the world. As well as inform them what was happening in my life too.

I was never a big fan of social media platforms such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo, as I always felt like they were fake and materialistic. Scrolling through feeds I always felt like people constantly tried to be something they weren’t. It’s a trait I’ve never found to be inspiring or attractive, so I tended to distance myself from them. Therefore, I relied more on blogs to stay in contact with family and friends.

So there you have it, my quick little hello from my hospital bed. Thankfully I’m being discharged in a couple of hours so I’ll be able to escape this four wall cell and reenter the world of media  (aside from the hospital TV and my phone) very very soon!
