Sarah Barton: Beyond an Interview – By Rachel Hooker

Sarah Barton: Beyond an Interview is a short film profile made by Rachel Hooker about Sarah Barton, a documentary filmmaker working within the disability rights and activism field. The film delves into the experiences of Sarah and how she has become involved in the industry throughout the years, including her experiences and learnings as a filmmaker.
The process of this film involved interviewing Sarah Barton over Zoom, and then using this footage alongside excerpts of her work, as well incorporating in my own filmed footage to tell give the film a direction and meaning that develops throughout it. By working on this film, I have been able to not only listen to and appreciate the experiences of a woman in the industry, but I have been able to deepen my skills of working on an almost mini-documentary, understanding more of how to weave together collected footage.
