Empower Pacific Women

The Pacific Women’s Representation call to action video was made by RMIT University students for Human Rights Arts Film Festival for the strand First Nations.
Inspired in the pacific movie Vai, the video uses the ocean in the background changing from dark to lighter and wider colour, and the subtle sound of waves (Water means Vai in many pacific languages) as symbolism to enlighten and empower the pacific women. Using the quote of Baklai Temengil, that currently fills a position of power being Minister of Community and Affair, empowers pacific women’s voice and shows the results of their fight among the years but the statistics reveal there is still a long way to go through.

The video has the purpose of highlighting the socio-political issues of gender inequality that pacific region experiences, the main reason related to domestic violence, unequal payment wage, and other gender-based social issues. Creating awareness, we aim to engage more people in this cause.
