Lauren Bisignano

I, Lauren Bisignano am a third-year Media student at RMIT University. I’m in my final year of this degree, and with my last opportunity to participate in a studio class, I opted for something with a heavier load of academic content, as well as great relevancy to life outside media. I have aspirations to continue working in the television production industry, but realistically I’m open to a variety of careers. I currently volunteer with SYN and RMITV on a number of projects in which I connect with fellow creatives in a community setting.

The Climate Changing Media studio has allowed me to educate myself on the worlds current climate crises and has opened my eyes to broader environmental concerns we face as a society.

Elizabeth Busch

Hi, my name is Elizabeth, and I’m a third-year Communications (Media) student. As a developing media maker, I have a focus on filmmaking and screenwriting. I want to further develop my skills in the film and television industries. With the growing state of the world, taking action on climate change has never become more valuable, and as a media maker, it is important to me that I am better educated and experienced in the climate crisis. With opinions on what action to take on so many different issues, I wanted to further develop my own understanding of the crisis and further prove how essential media has become to inform the masses and make real change for the betterment of the world.

The studio content that I have created has allowed me to explore ideas that I’ve been playing with recently around food production and agriculture. My interest in photography and audio production has helped me throughout this course, and I’ve really enjoyed combining those creative skills with new concepts and ways of approaching climate change.

Angus Jones

Hi my name is Angus Jones and this is my final climate media artifact titled, Our Plastic Connection. I was interested in unpacking the current contemporary and often utilized image of plastic bottles in the media that we see surrounding the topic of climate change, and what if our approach to this object was different. With the assistance of our class readings including insights from journalists, psychologists and climate activists I came to the conclusion that for my idea to be affective, it would come to altering the perception of plastic bottles in the public by communicating an alternate angle, suggesting that what if plastic bottles and human beings shared a connection

Moreover, I wanted to break my existing perceptions of climate media, and learn how media can be utilised to communicate climate issues differently, effectively and impactfully.

Khang Nguyen

As a media student, my main enthusiastic has always been journalism. Before the course, climate change for me was just a concept that I have heard of from watching and producing news. At the end of course, climate change is now for me is a concept that I somewhat understand. I am currently in my second year of my Communication (Media) degree with a specific interest in documentary filmmaking and photography. I’ve been passionate about animal rights from a young age and have grown increasingly concerned about animal agriculture’s ties with climate change, encouraging me to participate in the Climate Changing Media studio. I hope to one day pursue a career in documentary filmmaking, with the aim of creating content that is inclusive and self-aware, sharing stories that are often overlooked by the wider public.
