Experiment. Screen. Sensation

RMIT Media Studio 2019

“Pryer” dir. Kinzo Cai

During this semester, I was fortunate to have chosen the EXPERIMENT. SCREEN. SENSATION, which brought me many wonderful memories. I made some new friends. More importantly, I have learned a lot of new knowledge, new skills, and valuable experience. I believe these will be of great help to my future work and study. Moreover, I want to share some of the experiences I have learned this semester. First of all, I think one of the essential reasons for attracting viewers to watch a new movie is whether the story could appeal to the audience. In the 13th week of the show, I saw a lot of creative and exciting storylines, which made me very curious about what happened in the next. Thus, before the shooting, writing a unique story is very important to attract the audience. The second is the editing of the scene. In my film, I used some special effects to add mystery to my entire movie. In terms of rhythm, I use the slow and fast rhythm in the film to add interesting visual effects. Finally, I think visual perception could convey the deeper meaning of what I express in the film to the audience most intuitively.

I have a lot of regrets about my work. If I have the opportunity to improve, and I think I might handle it better. First of all, my whole film conveys the meaning is Everyone in today’s society is likely to be a pry about others because Others are curious about you. For these people, they might only like to stay on the surface, and attracting them is only a unique external thing such as fashion clothes, beautiful faces, etc. In my film, these snoopers are attracted by the gorgeous Appearance and fashionable clothes, which leads to a series of tracking behaviors. At the end of the 13th week, I do not think my film could let the audience clearly get to the point I want to express. I did not have a lot of details to show that the heroine in the film is being spoored. Most of the time in my film is to show the fashion and details of the clothes. This part is a slight adjustment I want to make. Moreover, one of the scenes the actresses are walking on the road. The clothes on her body reflect a figure. This is the shadow of the pryer. Since this scene is only 1.2 seconds, I am afraid that the audience did not notice this detail. And at the end, the original fast-paced movement, to the last moment of the pause. I was afraid that the audience thought that my final ending was a bit awkward. finally, these are a small part of what I want to adjust. I am very careful about the whole film, and I am delighted with my work. Because this is a movie similar to fashion advertising, so if there is a chance in the future, I hope this could become a brand advertising.

In the last week’s exhibition, I have two works that I like very much. The first one is the “I” of Yi. The first feeling that this film brought to me was touched. The first time I watched this movie, I couldn’t control myself and then I cry. I could feel the inner thoughts of the protagonist. Moreover, I deeply understand the sadness and helplessness of Yi. One of the scenes I was very impressed. When he was picking clothes, he had a smile on his face, but it was the kind of helpless smile. He pretended to make himself happy, but his heart was full of helplessness and sadness. In the last few scenes, he chose to use red as the overall color to express his current mood. He is brilliant in using a tonal variation to represent the changes in the actor’s heart. This is where I like and want to learn. The second film is Rachel’s documentary. First of all, I was involved in helping Rachel shoot. I know that there are a lot of exciting things happening inside. Besides, she taught me a lot of shooting skills and the skills to adjust the camera during the filming. This is an invaluable learning experience. Finally, about her movie, her screen is a very natural match with her voice and music, which makes me feel comfortable. Thus, I am inquisitive, and she wants to express deep meaning.

I was full of expectations in the last week to appreciate everyone’s work; each of them is full of their style. I have learned a lot of new things from their work and good ideas that I have never thought of before. Each of their movies is full of sincerity, and several exciting stories make me remember. These good storylines of them also provide a lot of inspiration for my next film. Moreover, this time, as the audience watched my work in the audience, I discovered that I have many shortcomings and problems. Finally, when the audience is an invaluable experience for me, I could directly know that I have some deficiencies and what aspect I am satisfaction.
