I use photography as a means of communication. As a moment of stasis, it’s incredible how much is spoken in just one image, and it’s incredible the infinite stories we can tell in infinite ways. The art of photography and its relationship with storytelling has evolved and adapted in so many different ways since the invention of the very first camera, and I find that it’s hard for me to narrow down my own photographic style and identity. I jump from different genres, from fine art, to photojournalism, to editorial, but I always ensure that my photographs have a story, a message, an emotion that reaches out to whoever sees my works. This class has allowed me to explore the various avenues of photography and expand my network by meeting so many interesting people with like-minded passion for photography. And at the very core of this course, I now have the skills to question the condition of narrative and stasis, and how I can utilize my skills as a photographer to communicate.
