I use photography to capture and perpetuate moments and immortalize memories.

Through this course, I was able to learn more about photography, through class exercises, feedbacks from my peers/Brian himself and most importantly, the three major assignments that I did: Mimesis, Strangers & Stories, and Expanded Photography.

For Mimesis, I had to imitate a photographer, so I chose Rinko Kawauchi. Her works consisted of everyday objects and moments, yet they are so appealing. I learned that nothing is too ordinary to be captured, and that it is important to pay attention to the little things, for they may create wonderful photos.

Then we have Strangers & Stories, where I had to approach, and more so, take a photo of a stranger, which was definitely challenging especially when it’s in a place that is foreign to me, thus was my photo essay of Max. The process turned out to be more fun than scary, and it was a delightful experience to be able to interact with new people and more importantly, tell their story through photos.

Lastly, for Expanded Photography, I worked with Niki to create @oriental.feeds, an Instagram account dedicated for oriental inspired food. Through this project, we learned how photography is so much more than just clicking the shutter button, but also about every little aspects that has to do with it.
