I use photography as a method of understanding the world I inhabit. It is an expression inscribed with my perspective of the world as I experience it. Photography has become so intrinsic to everyday life it can be difficult to put a finger on why we do it. It slips in and out of reality and fantasy, as a visual language we use for all aspects of the human existence. For me it is a tool to reflect on my own perspective of the things that I experience. It is a way to compare world views and frame the world into smaller, understandable chunks. I still don’t know whether I want to pursue photography in a professional capacity, or whether it will simply inform other media that I create, but I am certain that I will keep on taking photographs. For me that is like the uncertainty about the prospect of writing a book, contrasted with a complete certainty that I will continue to speak. Photography is a way to understand and communicate with the world, one that I have fallen completely in love with, and one that more and more people are partaking in. Photography encapsulates everything I love about the possibilities of visual media and I will continue to use it to aid me in understanding the full capabilities of visual communication.
