Panel presentation notes

# Please refer to the prompt as a “creative brief” in all your presentations as this is more understandable and real world for the Lentara panel members.

# Imagine you are presenting your ideas in the flash NAB building in Docklands at the end of semester and you are competing with another company for this business – you have to be excited, passionate, confident and clearly articulate your ideas – “kill to eat”, which means dinner on the table is only as good as the next job that is secured…

# Simplify your presentations (think of the audience they have 6 presentations to digest and provide feedback on)

# Remove low level specific detail as this will not be taken in by the panel in such a short timeframe.

# Move of so much text (written word) in your presentations…to more of a visual interpretation or the use of single words to emphasise points. No bullet points please!

# Get more graphic and visual! Map out your ideas visually. Think Tufte..(google Tufte image search). – this includes hand drawing more rather than a slick corporate powerpoint approach…

# Think about providing your panel with a printed pdf of slides and other printed examples of models – again do not overwhelm with to much stuff.

# Try and personalise your presentations as much as possible – collectively we are trying to get this organisation to project themselves more personally rather than from a corporate perspective – included in this personalisation is storytelling.

# Timing – time out your presentations. If you are rushed and have to much material then reduce it to focal points.

# Briefly tell us what you are presenting – provide context, context ,context…i.e “Our group are focusing on the X initiative… Through conversations with Lentara staff and global research we are working within the following creative brief (feel free to abbreviate this brief into one or two words – make it simple to remember). [Use slides to emphasise this critical context/set-up] …From this creative brief we have come up with three varying ideas for the panel to consider today. These ideas [show them together and separately on slides] will be presented in this order…culminating or concluding with how they support our creative brief.

# Do not be afraid to repeat yourself – with each model return to the creative brief each time – keep reminding your audience what is motivating your ideas… what you aim to achieve through your ideas…. even repeat images/slides if it helps…
