Thanks Oliver & Daleen for the Week 4 Update.

Week 4 Workshop – Camera tests
This workshop will be for camera testing – it’s a good chance for you group to get hands-on with some gear, and while it’s important that you have some time to experiment, we want to follow a bit of structure to get the most out of it.
Week 3 Update
Thanks to Amber and Sam for the Week 3 update.
Week 4 Lectorial
We have groups! Well done once again to the CW’s for their hard work and pitches, what an amazing effort in only 3 weeks. Thanks also to the Media crew for your quick responses and support of the ideas. Now that we have groups, the real action begins.
Media – Readings for Assessment Task 2
I’ve seen some good work come through for the first assessment task, well done to those who have completed it (and to those who haven’t, make sure that you do!)
For the next task, I’ll be expecting you to ramp up the research side, particularly in the ‘contextual’ analysis and your reflection. This is how you can demonstrate engagement with the form and content at a deeper level.
Creative Writers: Final Survey now live!
Check your student inboxes for the link to rank your preferences for the five selected premises!
Media: Week 3 workshop
This one is a biggie: today we’ll hear the 5 concepts from the CW students and you’ll give your preferences to form groups. We’ll cover a few other things as well, read on…
Stop Laughing This is Serious – ABC iView
Thanks Gabby for this great suggestion. Stop Laughing This Is Serious is a 3 part series about Australian comedy, featuring interviews with numerous established comedy performers. It looks like episode 2 & 3 are still available online, so it would be great for you to check this out and see if you can get some ideas or inspiration.
Robyn Winslow Masterclass – some questions
We had a great session yesterday with Robyn Winslow, getting an insight into script writing, development and the script ‘doctoring’ process. It was great to see the progression that her work went through across 3 drafts of the script, and how she changed her approach each time.
Some questions for us to consider and discuss:
- What do we (as producers) need to think about when developing scripts with writers?
- What is the focus for writers in early drafts (how did Robyn change her scripts?)
- What type of content will be most relevant to for us, in comedy? (Action, dialogue, new scene, parenthetical etc)
