Pretty straight forward today, our focus during this session will be on Assessment Task 1 – Scripted Shoot & Edit.  The script is available in the GOOD FORM – CONTENT / Week 2 folder on Google Drive, as some of you have already seen.

1) Shooting conversations – ‘Flat 3’

First, we’ll take a look at an episode from the NZ produced web series ‘Flat 3‘, and have a quick discussion about the different approaches they use to shoot conversations featuring 2 characters.  Also, here’s an article that gives a bit of insight into how the series started out.  There’s quite a few resources online that discuss this series, so worth checking those out.

2) The shoot

Then in groups of 3, it’s shooting.  Smartphone is fine, you’ll just be using available resources and should focus on framing, lighting, variations in performance and getting the cleanest audio possible.  After that, off to the edit suites to cut it together.

3) The edit (meet in B9 edit suites 1-8)

In the edit suites, you’ll need to transfer your footage to the Media Server. Please create a folder (with your group member first names as the title) here:

4) Finish, reflection & submission

Now start cutting and get it ready to export and upload to your Google drive folder, then on your blog write your individual reflection, with a link to the video file, and submit before 5PM Friday this week.  Don’t forget to paste the link to your blog post into your Submission Google Doc!
