Choosing your concept

During Wednesday’s workshop in week 3 the CW students will present their 5 concepts to us.  A great deal of work will have gone into this process at their end, so I’m very excited to see what they will come up with.

As discussed in week 2, the way you will nominate which concept you want to work on (and, in turn, the group that you’ll work with) will be a ‘silent ballot’ type system.  Instructions are as follows.

Throughout the session, you should note down the working title, or at least the order that each group pitches (1, 2, 3, 4 or 5), with some notes about each concept.  Then, email me (jeremy.bowtell@rmit.edu.au) your 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th preference like so:

1st pref: (working title or group number)
2nd Pref: ” ”
3rd Pref: ” ”
4th pref: ” ”

From this, I will try to allocate you to your 1st or 2nd preference, however it will be first-in-best-dressed.  While it would make sense for you to hear all of the concepts before you email me, if you do hear one that you know you’d like to work on, you can email me (jeremy.bowtell@rmit.edu.au) immediately during the session.

If preferences get messy and there are some concepts that are more popular than others, then the next way I will allocate will be on an even spread of Media 2 and Media 4 students in each group.  This is not essential, but we do want to keep a balance.

All of the above may take a while, so I’ll have groups allocated by Monday week 4 at the latest, but hopefully before then.  After the concept pitches, you should take some time to talk to the CW students and find out as much as you can about their concept.   Whichever group you end up with, I’m very confident that you’ll have an exciting concept and great bunch of people to work with!
