In this online media database, the Kuleshov Effect is discussed historically in relation to Lev Kuleshov’s conception of the filmmaking and editing concept. The Kuleshov Effect is defined to be the basis of Soviet montage cinema as ‘sentences’ and ‘texts’ of different nature are created through the combination of shots. This source is not very reliable on its own however it presents information synonymous to other sources’ in the research so far. It also gives clear examples from films including the famous shower scene in Psycho – which multiple sources agree to be an accurate depiction of the Kuleshov Effect. More extensive research needs to be undertaken on the idea of the montage in film editing.
