Mercado, G. 2010 The Filmmaker’s Eye. Focal Press, Burlington US.

In The Filmmaker’s Eye, Mercado unselectively discusses each type of shot based on purpose, distance and framing, and technical functionalities such as zooming, panning, tilting and Steadicam®. Each aspect of the manipulation of the camera and the frame is discussed in conjunction with images that are indicative of Mercado’s statements. This textbook is of minimal usefulness to my research as it contains knowledge and information that I already maintain. It is not written very in-depth and has little referencing to other film theorists so, therefore, is not entirely credible. Reading Mercado’s text forms satisfactory initial research into the editing of the cut between shot tot shot in film however I will need to research other sources with more credibility and detail.
