The following book What is Cinema, talks about the ontology of the birth of cinema from the late 1890s to 1950s. The following sections of language of cinema talks about the theories developed by Eisentein and Kuloshov and how it changed the language of film editing. It further talks about the use of sound and how editing has changed with sound and how the shot choices vary as one puts sound in it. The section of virtues and limitations talk about the use of montage and as cinema developed with the use of sound and dominance of hollywood films, montages posed a limitations in a way (they) wanted to convey a story.

It further strengthen my understanding of the history of cinema and gives more details and examples of different movies used by the directors.
