Emily Wade

Emily_W_Alpha_ChannelThe immersive experience of sound and its emotionally affecting nature is what has captured my heart this semester. I’ve been working in radio and playing percussion for years so my ear is tuned to sounds that bend and shape rhythmically and logically. It’s the unusual and illogical sounds that I find the most beautiful and intriguing, it’s in these that you find an escape from the mundane and typical. An out of tune guitar, high pitch whistling of a stove kettle or coat hangers scratching in a bustling salvos it’s these arrangements that paint pictures for ears. This semester has taught me to weave together unique and beautifully rich sounds to highlight the way I feel or what i want to say about things. It also helps that I’m a huge loudmouth and can yap away at the pub for hours, finding stories is easy when you’re in a courtyard with a beer in your hand.
