Learning about sound is incredibly useful in many different mediums in the media industry, not just radio alone. To learn how to properly record sound can be endlessly beneficial; and the non-fiction focus throughout the semester offers valuable advice and skills that can be used in a range of ways that would be helpful in the media industry. I entered this course with no experience in the area of sound, but this semester, I have learnt a range of editing and recording techniques that I feel I will use again in the future. This has been my first time properly editing radio pieces, and I am improving my skills as the semester goes on. I have found it very interesting to learn about radio as well, which is not as focused as other mediums in an increasingly screen focused world. The pieces that we have listened to are not only inspirational, but also provide a range of powerful insights to the world.
